Purpose and goal:
The purpose was to map and prioritize research and development needs on the material supply side to meet challenges and take advantage of opportunities in the Vinnova program area Sustainable Industry.
The project has identified research issues throughout the value chain for the metal industry and its customers. If projects are created in these areas, the effects can lead to a more secure material supply, which benefits Swedish industry efforts to achieve the global climate goals. Expected results and effects:
Based on the research questions identified and subsequent analysis, the project has led to the following desired effects from announcements that will benefit sustainable material supply to industry and society: Traceability and standardized environmental calculation methods Improved design / manufacturing
Supply of pure iron raw materials Reduced downgrading of scrap Sustainability with a holistic perspective, business models and policy issues Approach and implementation:
The external analysis has gathered the international perspective through conference reports, research literature and web meetings about EU initiatives.
To include synergy effects between different industrial sectors, actors from the electronics industry, recycling, automation, medical technology and consumer products have been contacted, in addition to already identified industries in SIP Metalliska Materials. Interviews with one to three interviewees were held during the period 30 August - 14 November 2021.
