Grant Description

Purpose and goal:

The project aimed to create better conditions for cities and municipalities to make well-informed decisions that support sustainable city development linked to e-commerce deliveries. This by sharing delivery data in collaboration with private actors. The project´s objective was to partly improve the data-driven decision-making in municipalities and private companies through a close and developed collaboration by using anonymized and aggregated data connected to deliveries within the city.

Expected results and effects:

Access to external delivery data gave the cities a clearer picture of how goods are transported in the city and a better understanding of its connection to how the city develops. One conclusion, however, is that since data is not normally shared, the data that is made available is not always complete, but may need to be supplemented by the cities themselves collecting data through traffic measurement etc.

The access to data and tools as a digital twin gives cities the tools to both visualize and simulate the current situation and future scenarios as a basis for sustainable urban development. Approach and implementation:

The project was implemented through four work packages (WP) where we collaborated with cities and companies. WP 1 handled project management. In WP two and three, a series of workshops were carried out where we studied/analyzed and compiled data relevant to the respective WP as well as further work to explore the potential for further use of the insights. In WP four we carried out a system analysis of the results in WP (2&3) and developed ideas for the upcoming project.
