Purpose and goal:
In the future, many drones will be autonomous or remotely controlled via the 5G network. In order to also be able to detect and position the "drones of the future", either passive or active radar must be implemented. The aim of the study was to identify suitable system architectures for the introduction of bistatic passive radar in a multisensor system, and that goal has been met.
Expected results and effects:
Through the project´s field tests, we have been able to determine two system architectures that meet the main requirements and which we intend to work on further in an implementation phase. In the implementation, we will expand the project team, both internally and externally with new partners. At the end of 2023, we estimate that the system is ready to go on sale.
Approach and implementation:
The project was carried out as planned, although we engaged Qamcom to a greater extent than intitally planned. Qamcom´s consultants contributed, among other things, with evaluation of SDRs, analysis of micro-doppler data (both plastic propellers and carbon fiber propellers) and field tests outside Budapest.
