Grant Description

Purpose and goal: ** Denna text är maskinöversatt **

The aim of the project was to develop an industrially viable method for in situ fibrillation of nanocellulose in a plastic matrix, as well as to validate the materials in a realistic environment. Through the project, the understanding of in situ fibrillation has increased, however, technical challenges have limited the possibility of establishing an industrially viable method to achieve this at a satisfactory level, this will be further developed after the end of the project.

Expected results and effects: ** Denna text är maskinöversatt **

Through the project, several process conditions of microcellulose mixed with plastic have been evaluated, the materials have been characterized and the degree of fibrillation has been correlated. This understanding is expected, after further internal development, to lead to high-performance materials that in many cases can upcycle recycled or bio-based plastics, or replace glass fiber reinforced plastics to increase recycling opportunities.

Approach and implementation: ** Denna text är maskinöversatt **

Due to technical difficulties, lack of staffing and COVID it became necessary to extend the project, this made it possible to achieve satisfactory results. In order to increase the efficiency of the project, the responsibilities of the respective project parties were somewhat redistributed, this reduced the lead times for producing test results.
