Purpose and goal:
The project has resulted into an increased understanding of current challenges and required digital capabilities for production innovation. We have built a strong consortium for the continuation, identified use cases, and submitted an application for step 2 project. Expected results and effects:
Our findings show that companies lack a holistic perspective, which leads to an inefficiency in preparing, organizing, and utilizing data. In this regard, in step 1, we have seen that the data value chain concept can be applied to enable a holistic way of working when preparing and organizing production innovation concepts. Further, our findings from step 1 show that for manufacturing companies to take advantage of the various possibilities offered through digitalization, requires a different way to organize production innovation. The project has resulted in one publication.
Approach and implementation:
The work was divided into three work packages and the co-production between the partners took place through workshops, interviews, and documents. The project started with a joint workshop in which partner companies presented current challenges. The data has been used to refine the literature review and propose possible means to overcome the challenges. Further, we have defined use cases for partner companies to work further in stage 2.
