National Prehospital Data Lab

Purpose and goal:

The purpose of the project is to initiate the work to develop and establish a national prehospital data lab that will enable better access to and thus increased use of research data, contribute to new innovations and better follow-up of ambulance care regarding patient care, costs and outcomes.

The goal of the lab is to become a national resource that collects, describes and makes data on prehospital ambulance care available and accessible to regions, business and data-driven research and development. Expected results and effects:

The project will propose an infrastructure and work methods that in a technically, legally and ethically sustainable way make it possible to handle sensitive data so that it can be used to contribute to better patient care. This includes:

- A model of infrastructure and work methods for a national prehospital data lab with a plan for long-term development and operation.

- An open knowledge node and resource that enables orientation, collaboration and knowledge sharing between regions, business and researchers regarding prehospital data and information-driven care. Approach and implementation:

The data lab is owned by PreHospen and coordinated by PICTA. The project constellation incl. partner and stakeholder networks will work together in a series of work packages. These include project management and communication; needs, use case and trigger case; inventory and description of data meta-searches for increased national involvement and use; data lab infrastructure; ethics and law; and a model for long-term operation.
