Purpose and goal:
The project aims to solve the waste treatment problem by changing the waste to wealth based on environmental, strategic, and economic concerns. The purpose is to develop techniques for efficient recovery of metals from the waste streams and increase the supplement of critical raw materials (CRM) in the meantime. A successful transferring knowledge from a lab-scale (KTH) to a small pilot scale (IVL) with related industries as reference groups will increase waste recycling and CRM supplement to meet the goals of Agenda 2030.
Expected results and effects:
The project´s long-term vision is to provide and adopt relevant waste-to-wealth techniques to related industrial value chains for future sustainable resource recovery and contribute to the development of the circular economy. The short-term goal of this project is to transfer the lab-scale knowledge to piolet, where realistic waste streams from our industrial partners will be tested, and explore international collaborations connected to the topic of resource recovery and devices development.
Approach and implementation:
In the EcinRAW project, we have had discussions and feedback with many industries with waste streams. Our industrial partners will supply the waste from their real streams in the early stage of the project. Factors for the recycling technologies’ development will be thoroughly studied on a lab-scale and further transferred to a pilot plant with the industrial partner as the reference group for further improvements.
