The urban livingroom

Purpose and goal:

To strengthen the urban living spaces through flexible, innovative and multi-functional solutions that strengthen local service, culture, trade, resilience and attractiveness. Expected results and effects:

The results for the four locations selected for innovative development of urban living spaces are directly transferable to most urban areas in the country.

Through the experiences and lessons learned from the project, other municipalities can be inspired and develop similar methods. The project has also produced a handbook with visions and work methodology as support for similar project.

The project has already had effects on municipal planning with an increased focus on temporary and flexible solutions as well as trying out new uses of public spaces before major investments are made. Approach and implementation:

The project shows how four central locations in urban areas with different conditions can be developed to create attractive living environments based on the new conditions after the pandemic.

By adding flexible and innovative solutions for trade, service, culture and recreation, the living areas of urban areas can have the functions and qualities needed to create attractive living environments that contribute to sustainable social development.

The methodology chosen in the project based on the analysis of RISE has been viable and can be applied to similar project.
