This project aims at development and investigation of a new class of small organic molecular catalysts based on benzothiadiazole derivatives and analogues for electrocatalytic and photocatalytic hydrogen production and CO2 reduction.
This research will be carried out in Physical Chemistry division at Uppsala University during 2022-2025 by one PhD student under my supervisor.
To implement this project, the methods and knowledge of organic chemistry, electrochemistry and photochemistry will be used.
Running this project will develop a new type of efficient and environmental-friendly small organic molecules in catalysis.
By using various techniques such as nuclear magnetic resonance, electron paramagnetic resonance, transient (UV-vis, IR) absorption/fluorescence spectroscopy and stopped-flow, the fundamental study on reaction mechanism of this type of catalyst will be done.
The expected achievements will contribute new organic catalysts and relevant knowledge to the research field of catalytic fuel production.
