Grant Description

Purpose and goal:

The game aims to increase curiosity about words and language and contribute to an interest in reading for children. With the method game, the child can practice concentration, focus and following instructions. The game is preferably played with an adult to encourage conversation and interaction.

In addition to this, there is a supplementary knowledge-enhancing information package about dyslexia. The target group is children of primary school age and in preschool class. 1439 people have played the method game so far, and has reached over half a million people via social media. Expected results and effects:

Short term effects are spreading knowledge and increased awareness of the importance of reading and dyslexia among children and adults. In addition, the method game contributes to an increased interest in reading, curiosity and joy for reading and language. In the long term, the investment can give more children a joyful approach to words and language as well as stimulate children who are negatively affected by the knowledge gap that arose in the wake of the pandemic.

As the method game is developed together with children, the content is fun and appealing while stimulating development. Approach and implementation:

Development and production of the method game has been completely in line with the original time plan, except for the launch which was postponed to October 28, 2022. The reason for this was that the Foundation needed time to make some changes and adjustments after the last consultation round. The adjustments have meant that the Foundation has chosen to partially change the focus of the project by broadening the purpose and the target group.

This is based on input from the Foundation´s expert council consisting of special educators, school staff and dyslexia experts.
