Purpose and goal:
300 million people menstruate every day - and the cultural, economic and structural injustices that surround menstruation today affect an enormous number of them. The biggest challenges lies in low-wage countries, but the problems are global and require extensive, normative change. Main goals: increased knowledge about structural injustices linked to menstruation-normalisation of efforts among those in power and employers- climate-neutral, cost-effective and safe menstrual protection for all.
Expected results and effects:
The effects are several and significant. Reduced stigma surrounding menstruation, resolving in better and more profound dialogue and research. Fewer days of absence from work / school with positive socio-economic effects and increased gender equality as a result. Clear regulations that ensure both better individual health and less environmental and climate impact. Better and more equal care at a global level and a global ISO standard in place
Approach and implementation:
The Next Period project is led by Sibship, with Wargön Innovation as assistant project manager. The main project structure consists of four main tracks: education, product development, technical development and opinion. Through major efforts and targeted communication, field tests, extensive collaborations with major players, health care and school, the project is expected to scale up gradually during the period and generate structural effect both globally and internationally.
