The aim was to explore if and from SmiLe, in collaboration with other Swedish incubators and other actors in the business support system, could develop a method or tool that can help incubators adapt to needs and be prepared to help companies operating in the borderland between life science and food. We have identified what needs to be developed to support these startups, however, there are no plans for a collaboration to develop tools or methods at present, as the actors concerned feel that few currently need a customized and specific support.

The feasibility study has resulted in a better understanding of startups operating at the intersection of life sciences and foods as well as their specific challenges and needs. Another results is an improved knowledge of ongoing initiatives and a picture of stakeholders in Sweden who operate in this area. The conclusion is that the stakeholders, except SmiLe, do not meet many startups of this type, hence it is not justified to collaborate in an implementation project. All respondents found the initiative interesting and the dialogue rewarding.

The feasibility study has been carried out according to the activity plan in 4 work packages. The commitment and cooperation in the project group was good and effective. The only challenge was the time needed to book interviews within the desired time frame.

The planned workshops and trips were not carried out, as the initial conversations, by phone or online with the project´s stakeholders showed that there was no need to meet to plan a joint project when this did not become relevant. The project has changed project manager due to termination of employment.
