Strengthened utilization of research results in healthcare through increased knowledge and understanding

Purpose and goal:

The project has fulfilled its purpose and goals. The specific objectives were to identify perceived challenges associated with the utilization of research results for health care. The project has clarified areas of improvement and critical processes within actual work around innovations in healthcare which can now be optimized in a coordinated and improved innovation process.

The project has fulfilled the goal of creating good conditions for research results and innovations produced in collaboration between academia and healthcare to be effectively utilized. Expected results and effects:

The identified perceived challenges for utilization of research results to healthcare mainly concerned differences in regulations and innovation processes between academia and healthcare. This important work has clarified areas of improvement and critical processes within actual work around innovations in healthcare which can now be optimized in a coordinated and improved innovation process as well as improved early innovation advice.

Approach and implementation:

The following planning and implementation has been done: (1) On-boarding and sharing of information in the respective organizations´ innovation support systems at the University of Gothenburg and the Västra Götaland region, (2) Interviews researchers regarding their experience of utlization of research results to healthcare. (3) Verification of perceived difficulties with the respective organization. (4) Compilation of insights and knowledge for communication. (5) Suggestions for reducing difficulties and improving working methods. (6) Dissemination of results.
