Purpose and goal:
The purpose of the project is to improve the realization of resistance at the national metrology institute by creating quantum Hall array (QHA) standards with several different primary resistance levels that can be used in direct one-to-one comparisons. In addition, the current realization will be improved with the new resistance standards for use in our future Kibble balance.
The goal is to create QHA standards at several different resistance levels: 100 , 1 k, 10 k, 100 k and if possible also 25 and 10 . These will be tested for realization of both resistance and current. Expected results and effects:
A successful project will reduce the uncertainty of resistance realization and lead to better calibrations for electrical, temperature and mass units. We will also present the results at conferences and scientific articles. As this is relatively new, we expect quite a lot of attention, which will make us attractive in future research collaborations and Sweden´s reputation in quantum metrological research will increase.
Approach and implementation:
We will produce QHA with resistance values of 100 , 1 k, 10 k and 100 k and verify their performance via comparison measurements with established standard standards. We will perform uncertainty analysis for the resistance calibration and perform the first regular calibration with QHA. We will test current realization with QHA and Josephsonnormal up to 10 mA and verify new current realization by calibrating an accurate current source.
If possible, we will produce QHA standards with resistances of 25 and 10 . This is more demanding as you need around 1000 elements in the array.
