Purpose and goal:

The project´s title is "Sustainable solutions for increased utilization of residual materials from and for the mining and metals industry - SusReM". At this stage, the project aims to prepare an application to form a competence center in the area of recycling, reuse and valorization of residual materials from and for a sustainable mining and metal industry.

Expected results and effects:

A competence center is necessary to integrate all efforts to contribute a sustainable mining and metal industry, solving the current and foreseen challenges/issues faced by the industries and providing them short- and long-term strategies. Approach and implementation: The project consortium has consisted of six partners as the representatives from Sweden in the proposed area:

- two academy partners of Swerim AB and KTH; - two industry partners of Höganäs AB from steelmaking and SMA Mineral AB from mining; - one SME of GRu Konsult AB; - Jernkontoret, the Swedish iron- and steelmaking association. The project partners has worked together in 5 work packages, i.e.: - WP1: Survey of research demands;

- WP2: Identification of major players and partners; - WP3: Seminars/workshops; - WP4: Evaluation and integration of activities; - WP5: Preparation of the proposal for the competence center.
