Purescrap - planning action for Twin 01-13

Purpose and goal: The purpose was to gather project partners and submit a proposal to Horizon Europe.

The application PURESCRAP has been submitted and consists of 12 parties from 6 countries. The goal is to enable greater use of post-consumer scrap in the steel industry and thus avoid the need for virgin raw material (ore). This is done by implementing new technical solutions for the scrap management process while having a continuous interaction between the recycling and steel industries. The main part of the development and demonstration of the methods will take place in Sweden.

Expected results and effects:

The effect of the planning grant is that a strong consortium has been obtained such that a well-composed proposal has been submitted. Approach and implementation:

Project partners were found through the participation in pitch sessions for Clean Steel Partnership and through interactions within the consortium´s contact network. Meetings and visits to project partners were conducted to gain an understanding of the conditions and possibilities for scrap management, which is the central part of PURESCRAP.

The requirement for the content in Horizon proposals is extensive and the planning grant has enabled that the needed resources has been available to produce necessary data.
