The project aim and objective was to write a proposal to Horison Europe. Suggested EU project intends to evaluate the steel smelting process of the future through modeling, pilot and plant validation. The EU project will evaluate the effects of new / alternative iron carriers in the form of a higher degree DRI / HBI and substitute fossil energy carriers with green hydrogen, bio-based coal and finally investigate the energy flows and possibilities with CO2 capture. The project was submitted to the call HORIZON-CL4-2022-TWIN-TRANSITION-01-16.

The planning grant resulted in a project application to Clean Steel Partnership´s call for proposals Horizon-CL4-2022-Twin-transition-01-16. Thanks to the planning grant, a strong consortium was formed and a well-developed proposal was sent in. The project consortium consists of 10 companies in five countries, of which five Swedish actors.

The planning grant has been used to build the consortium and project concepts through a number of digital meetings in different constellations in combination with a joint writing process in an online document provided by the coordinator.
