Grant Description

Purpose and goal:

The aim was to analyze society-related costs of vertebral fractures and to highlight health-related quality of life with Inossia´s innovative material adapted for brittle bone. The goal was to strengthen Inossia´s competence in how to do a socio-economic analysis, deliver a report for society´s health and cost consequences and to relate these to preliminary results of Inossia´s product.

The goal has been met; a report is delivered and Inossia has understood how socioeconomic data is collected and how it is presented in report form. Expected results and effects:

Today, vertebral fractures are not treated in Sweden. Inossia wants to change that with a new product providing improved quality of life after a vertebral fracture. The socio-economic analysis done shows that by actively treating vertebral fractures with Inossia´s product, the society can save 18 times the investment of that treatment.

Inossia can thus explain the product potential to patients and doctors on a cost basis. In the long term, it can contribute to meeting the needs of a large patient group that is currently undertreated and to the sale of a Swedish product on the market. Approach and implementation:

NordIQ Analytics has trained Inossia in health economic analysis and through registry data and scientific studies also analyzed the health and cost consequences of vertebral fractures. These estimates have been put in relation to the product´s preliminary effectiveness, and further compared to current ways of treating vertebral fracture; without surgery, or by stabilizing the fracture with ordinary bone cement.

Scientific literature has been used to confirm the results in our analysis and also to estimate costs for vertebral fractures in other countries in Europe.
