BAIT

Purpose and goal:

The target area for BAIT is municipal waste management. It is complex with advanced logistics and need to monitor, control and coordinate various processes and activities based on data captured from various actors.

BAIT shall provide a basis for the future digitization strategy and contribute to increased understanding of "soft" factors that accompany the development, implementation and use of IoT. Of particular importance is knowledge of how new technology changes working methods, skills, and communication vis-à-vis the employees as well as towards customers and the public.

A clearer common picture of the digital maturity in the business and about potential opportunities to use IoT and digital aids to optimize, streamline and contribute to increased goal fulfillment in the waste plan through feedback and influence on those who generate waste. A basis for a concrete strategy and action plan that coordinates and prioritizes IT and process development with insight into digitization as a broad restructuring of how work is conducted and where technology, people, routines, beliefs and power relations work together.

Interviews were made with around 20 key people in a number of different roles in the business, field visits and two group workshops were carried out.

It gave a picture of the starting situation and of potential opportunities to use IoT and digital aids as well as increased awareness of development opportunities. An inventory of suppliers of digital solutions for the waste industry was also made. The results of the interviews and workshops were analyzed and reconciled with relevant key people and expert researchers.
