Purpose and goal:
Today´s reference intervals for vital parameters involve the risk of misinterpretation as a deviant value for the individual can be camouflaged by a normal value at group level. Overall objective is an IoT solution with an algorithm that calculates and analyzes body temperature and oxygen saturation in relation to individual normal range. This creates measurable benefit for the individual, organization and society, which means care without delay, proactive and efficient working methods, cost savings related to fewer hospital admissions and applied precision health.
Expected results and effects:
In collaboration with health and care staff, body temperature and oxygen saturation were measured on 70 healthy and 52 frail people, aged 27 - 100. Body temperature varies equally over time, but min and max temperature for different individuals varied greatly, > 2.5 °C. Oxygen saturation varied between 75% to 100%, The result supports an algorithm that analyzes values in relation to individual normal range, for assessment of individual health status.
We developed an IoT mobile solutio/backend for the algorithm, which we plan to clinically implement and validate in upcoming project. Approach and implementation:
In cooperation with health-care staff, we have measured body temperature and oxygen saturation with existing instruments and prototypes on 122 individuals in a habitual condition. Collected data forms the basis for calculating the algorithm. The results have been presented in a scientific manuscript and for the health care staff at regular meetings. The IoT solution with mobile application, backend and handset has been tested and evaluated by the health care staff.
