Purpose and goal:
The purpose of the project is to develop an open system for real-time-based traffic flow measurement, independent on individual suppliers based on open standards. The project will evaluate and develop a number of identified technologies with high potential to become cost-effective real-time-based traffic flow measurement, to replace technology used today that can not deliver a complete real-time-based analysis.
The goal is to create a national and international offer for making real-time traffic flow measurements to promote walking and cycling based on open standards. Expected results and effects:
New traffic flow measurement methods and products that creates a portfolio of real-time measurement technologies based on open data models.
Flow measurement data models based on open APIs and standardized models to provide real-time traffic flow measurement. Integrations with City of Lunds analysis DSS.
Validated products and services for real-time traffic measurement. Use case that demonstrates the benefits of the system.A packaged cost-effective solution for large-scale deployment of real-time traffic measurement. Approach and implementation: The project will be carried out divided into five different work packages to achieve project goals:
Develop sensor systems around flow measurement based on identified techniques. Management of data from flow measurement and the integration with control and decision support systems. Test in real environment, both urban and suburban environments. Distribution and communication of results.
