Grant Description

Purpose and goal:

The goal of participating in the Swiss-Swedish Innovation Initiative (SWII) conference has been to present Procada as a Swedish SME in additive manufacturing of large-scale metal structures and to establish contacts with actors in industry and academia. The purpose has been to establish one or more consortia for research projects and to generate business opportunities with industrial partners.

As a result of the conference, Procada is now discussing a possible research project with, among others, ETH Zurich and a number of proof-of-concept studies with industrial partners. Expected results and effects:

New contacts have been made with actors who have long experience in Additiv Tillverkning but where expertise in process control of laser-wire Directed Energy Deposition process has been lacking. Procada is therefore discussing a number of proof-of-concept studies in which the company´s developed control system for laser wire AM will be evaluated. A research project within the EUREKA framework is also planned.

Approach and implementation:

The team had several one-on-one meetings during the SWII event where the company made contacts, presented Procada´s technology and investigated cooperation opportunities. The SWII event has been followed up with a number of contacts, and discussions are now underway with partners from both academia and industry.
