Grant Description

Purpose and goal: ** Denna text är maskinöversatt **

The textile industry faces the challenge of reducing dependence on environmentally harmful materials. aim of the project has been to develop new fiber blends and yarn spinning techniques to increase the use of bio-based and recycled fibres. The focus has been on a movement in TRL (Technology Readiness Level). Of the five main concepts that the project has developed, three have increased in TRL.

Two of the concepts remain at the same TRL level, one is very innovative at an early stage and the other was initiated late during the project period. Expected results and effects: ** Denna text är maskinöversatt **

The project has resulted in five yarn concepts on recycled or bio-based materials. The sustainability analyzes of the two concepts that reached the highest TRL show reduced environmental impact with recycled textiles. Two of the sub-concepts will be further developed in future project that are already underway and there is interest in developing the other concepts as well.

The results from the different concepts are expected to be further developed by some of the industry partners in the project and contribute to a more circular textile industry. Approach and implementation: ** Denna text är maskinöversatt **

The project has been led by a group of researchers who, in collaboration with industrial partners, developed the concepts. It has been done through initial research, development of prototypes, testing and optimization in dialogue and regular project meetings with the project´s partners. Advanced laboratory equipment has been used by project partners and external actors in spinning and weaving to scale up and validate the results.

The commitment of the project partners to development of textiles with a lower environmental impact has been important.
