Purpose and goal:
To completely change the production method will run for a longer period. This is because the large number of moulds and details that need to be reviewed. The project has been crucial in decisions about how new moulds should be manufactured in order to be functional with the new manufacturing method.
The main goal is to produce details that are lighter and has less climate impact, as dimensioning and simulations of laminate layouts shows a large reduce in weight, which results in less material when manufacturing. This has also been seen when test pieces have been made. Expected results and effects:
The expected effects of the project, where the details would obtain lower weight with improved strength, correspond to what was expected before the start of the project.
The working environment part is also according to expectations, details can be produced without major influence of styrene. In terms of results, we did not get the prototype with the sandwich laminate layout ready, as the designing of the plugs took longer than expected. The plugs have arrived at the factory and work to complete them is ongoing. The project has been a major factor for future design and mould manufacturing.
Approach and implementation:
The project structure as a whole follows a good workflow, however the project was limping as certain moments couldn’t be carried out as they were intended.
This caused delays in the project´s final results. This meant that the project had to focus more on making moulds that will be used at a later stage. The cooperation with the project partners in the project has been beyond expectations, they have supported the project and put in a lot of time so the project can reach as far as possible during the short project time that was. The collaboration will continue after the end of the project.
