Policy & behavior lab: Public transport in rural areas

aim to ensure improved systems vision for integrated public transport- and carpooling services in rural areas, this project intends to carry out work efforts together with relevant actors to address what public transport is and can be in rural areas and how rural residents value integrated public transport- and carpooling services and how this can be affected.

The project can contribute to system innovation and contribute to faster implementation through the in-depth work with barriers in relation to regulations, behaviour, culture and values. Expected results and effects: ** Denna text är maskinöversatt **

The results provide data for public transport authorities both in terms of legal aspects in relation to carpooling and what residents in rural areas consider necessary to be able to use public transport & carpooling.

It is possible within the current regulations to give public actors the task of promoting mobility services. The focus groups believe that public transport is a prerequisite for carpooling. A change in norms is needed, as are national transformative policy instruments, e.g. increased taxes on fuel, kilometer tax, changed travel deduction

AP1 has conducted interviews, analyzes of regulations and workshops. AP2 has carried out focus groups with rural residents.

The idea was to have a close connection between the work packages and provide input to each other´s work. It has happened, but not to the extent that was the idea. The result has been two separate reports instead of a common one because the work did not develop into a cohesive process but two parallel ones. The work in focus groups in rural areas and workshops with public transport operators has worked well, we are satisfied with the result
