Information driven Forest Industry

The forest is a very important raw material for Sweden as it is renewable, circular and at the same time a limited resource. Demand is expected to increase, eligibility requirements on traceability and the need to find new margins in an already automated industry. To meet challenges today and for the future, the goal is to form a strategic initiative to accelerate the use of AI-based information to contribute to a sustainable and strengthened competitiveness for the Swedish forestry industry that matches its needs, challenges and opportunities.

During the project, a deeper analysis has been carried out, workshops and a number of in-depth interviews. It has resulted in work on strategic insights for the Swedish forestry industry, proposals for interesting needs-driven project. The project was affected by the pandemic and new world situation and unfortunately did not result in a sharp project (too low interest) or mobilization for a strategic initiative. New contact surfaces, project collaborations have been created during the project.

The project was carried out through a number of project meetings, workshops, an analysis carried out by a management agency and a number of in-depth interviews with people who represent different parts of the Swedish forest industry and academia.
