Purpose and goal:
The aim of the project was to carry out the international conference on the topics of ageing, migration, and digital technologies in the comparative context of Sweden and Japan. The event aimed to gather experts from academia, industry and public sector to stimulate future research collaborations. The project aimed to widen its reach by inviting visual and literary artists to communicate the conference key topics in the creative form.
The conference website was proposed as a way of publishing and disseminating the event information, recorded presentations and artists work. Expected results and effects:
The conference took place in May 11-12, 2022 at Karlstad University and via Zoom and gathered experts representing regional institutions and researchers. The conference discussions identified important challenges related to migration and ageing and digitalisation and laid groundwork for future collaborations. The event featured successful collaboration with artists who contributed to the event and the conference website at https://www.kau.se/en/sociology/conferences/online-conference-e-migrageing-11-12-may-2022
Approach and implementation:
The project consisted of several key stages related to (1) the organisation and carrying out of the conference (2) producing the conference website (3) disseminating the event information. The conference was divided into two days, with Day 1 focussing on academic, industry and public sector experts and Day 2 gathering academic researchers. Both days featured artists’ presentations in the form of poetry and sketching.
The conference website contains conference recordings and artists work. The conference was advertised across social media, academic and professional networks.
