Purpose and goal:
The main purpose of the project is to develop new starch and bio-based adhesives by adding graphene in starch adhesives, for applications in cellulose-based materials and products and thereby take advantage of the potential that exists for using graphene in adhesives for more sustainable materials. The goal of the project is to use graphene to develop renewable adhesives for three demonstrators in the form of a package of corrugated cardboard, a sustainable straw and wooden panels for furniture. The demonstrators will be verified in an operational environment.
Expected results and effects:
The project will increase the knowledge and use of graphene in the Swedish industry for renewable products and contribute to Swedish industry being able to utilize the great potential in using graphene to develop new renewable products and strengthen its competitiveness.
The project has a clear application focus where the graphene will be used to improve processes and products with a very large export value for Sweden. The potential consists of both improving the product functionally and sustainably, as well as streamlining the manufacturing process. Approach and implementation:
The project will be led by 2D fab and consists of 5 work packages that together constitute the tasks that need to be carried out to achieve the goals. The project is based on collaboration between companies specializing in adhesives and companies that manufacture and use adhesives in their production. The verification will be done both with regard to production process improvements and properties of the adhesive and the end product.
Collaboration and knowledge exchange will take place between the project partners to create good conditions for the development of the demonstrators.
