The Nordic Institute for Theoretical Physics (NORDITA) is a leading Nordic center of excellence for research and advanced studies in theoretical physics and related disciplines.
Faculty and postdoctoral fellows do research at the frontline of modern theoretical physics, which includes astrophysics and astroparticle physics, biophysics, condensed matter physics, gravitation and cosmology, high-energy physics, soft matter physics, as well as statistical physics and complex systems.
In addition, in the coming decade an ambitious, wide-ranging strategic initiative in frontier information technologies will be established to nurture research activities centered around quantum information and complex networks.Nordita provides a unique research infrastructure, consisting of internationally competitive in-house research combined with two key components, namely researcher education and scientific programs attracting more than 1000 researchers yearly.
The hosting of scientific programs, conferences and schools provides a platform for students and researchers to interact, collaborate and network, facilitating a gateway to forefront international research. Moreover, Nordita plays an important role in recruiting internationally competitive talent to Sweden.
The high quality of the research at Nordita is demonstrated in external evaluations, in the number of publication in high-level journals, and the large number of external grants held by the faculty.
