As digitalization and use of digital services increase, we are building smart cities and housing. However, smart technologies are unevenly distributed and used.
The housing challenges for social sustainability in Sweden today, in particular in socio-economic weak neighborhoods has to address how, by whom, where and for what costs digital services are provided and accessible.
We need to map and critically review knowledge on what can contribute to more socially inclusive and sustainable developments, when digitalization becomes embedded into urban settings and buildings. This proposed research review will, using a mixed method review; scope, structure, and scrutinize research-based knowledge housing in smart cities, in particular in socio-economic disadvantaged neighbourhoods, and form policy implications.
The three main objectives are: · to scope the literature review of research and ‘grey literature’ on smart housing and social inclusion in particular in socio-economic disadvantaged neighborhoods; · to structure the identified literature along theorthical models; and last · to scrutinize the meanings of social sustainable housing in the smart city through Delphi-inspired workshops with stakeholders. The results of the research review will be presented as reports and policy briefs to planners and policy makers and as academic journal articles and applications for further research.
