System innovation - Modular battery system for fossil free work machines

The project´s objective was to identify and process obstacles and opportunities for the establishment of a modular battery exchange system for working machines. The purpose was to increase knowledge and understanding of a new upcoming market and what will be required to reach a system entry. The five system dimensions have been investigated.

The project has succeeded in creating a working battery replacement concept that has been shown at several different demo events. The project has received very positive publicity in the media and has been able to identify several important areas where users, companies and other stakeholders in the industry believe that there still are uncertainties that need to be studied more closely.

The project has investigated several different scenarios with many perspectives and had conversations, interviews and seminars with several different types of actors in future system as well as other industries. The technology has been demonstrated at Elmia Woods, demo days in Vadstena and Svenljunga and received a lot of media attention. On these occasions users´ attitudes and opinions have been collected.

The exchange of knowledge within and outside the project has been important for the expansion of networks, understanding and lessons learned.
