Purpose and goal:
The purpose of this project is to work toward the long-term goal of introducing a 2-seat electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft for utility purposes in the service of society.
The goal has been to develop an unmanned prototype which will later be used for test flights as part of further development. The prototype is almost finished and will be completed and test flown as the work will continue. Thanks to funding from Vinnova, VCraft Aeronautics AB has come a long way towards the long-term goal of manned flight.
Expected results and effects:
The result of the project is an unmanned prototype that will be used for testing of the completet system as well as subsystems. These results will then be used in the further development of a manned version.
The long-term effect is that it will be possible to fly without emissions with this type of aircraft which can gradually increase in size and replace helicopters in the future. Approach and implementation:
The first half of the project was used for design and construction the aircraft, as well as purchasing of components. A general lack of electronic components on the world market led to long delivery times and in some cases redesigns.
During the second half of the project, the parts for the fuselage were manufactured and assembled. A reconstruction had to be made of the load-bearing structure, to keep the weight within the design constraints.
