Purpose and goal:
The aim of the project is to develop a new fully waste-based and bio-based composite material that is ready for large scale product application. By modifying and improving an innovative lignin-based resin as binder and combine it with a biobased filler and a biobased fiber like recycled toilet paper a strong composite can be produced that is a sustainable alternative for a.o. regular ´fossil´ based glassfiber/polyester composites and aluminum. To be able to use the new material, an innovative moulding technique will be developed.
Expected results and effects: The main result is a new 100% biobased and waste based composite material that can compete at an industrial level with existing less sustainable materials and is ready for demonstrator phase. Part of the main objective is to develop the Ligniset resin to be suitable for use in composite applications.
Approach and implementation: ** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** The project consists of 7 work packages: 1. Resin development 2. Upscaling resin production 3. Filler and fiber development 4. Producing and optimizing composite materials 5. Prototyping & Upscaling 6. Ecological & Econonic Evaluation
7. Project Management
The project´s first year is dominated by a focus on optimizing the formulation of the lignin resin as well as filler and fiber. These sub-moments are then followed by a scale-up to prototypes for evaluation against specific products and market segments.
