Purpose and goal:
The overall objective of the Step 2 project is to reach the stage of the first industrial prototypes of the fully sustainable food packaging items based on the combination of sustainable cutting-edge chemistry, material coating technology and DMF.
The project builds on the results achieved during the Step 1 project in which the consortium partners have demonstrated that it is possible to combine the involved technologies to reach a technological and sustainability breakthrough. Expected results and effects:
The partners aim to reach the stage of the first industrial prototypes of the fully sustainable food packaging, enabled by the prototype of the pilot coating line that can be used to supply material to DMF processes for technological, functional and environmental evaluations. The consortium aims to produce the functional demonstrators of the selected pilot products.
Those packaging items will be used to demonstrate the hydro- and oleophobic properties of the barriers enabled by OrganoClick biobased and home compostable barrier products. Approach and implementation: The project plan has been designed to enable progress along four axes:
-development of the final coating process in form and function, including the chemical properties of the binders and the process parameters -development of a fully functional pilot coating line -implementation and evaluation of the production tests with DMF technology and the material delivered by the pilot line.
-Validation of the functional barrier performance and the sustainability performance of the prototype packagings
