Conference at MDU - After Method in Organization Studies IV (AMOS)

After Method in Organization Studies IV (AMOS) is a conference taking place at Mälardalen University, Västerås, Sweden, 16–17 June, 2022. The conference will be preceded by a PhD workshop on June 15th.

The purpose of the conference is to provide an opportunity for social science researchers to meet and discuss methodological questions around the epistemology of practice and epistemological practices.

The theme is highly relevant in organization studies as it brings forth reflections on how we, as researchers, generate knowledge and account for the multiplicity of Others, humans and non-humans (animals, plants, soil), by acknowledging differences and specificities into our research work and in its outputs.

The overall aim is to foster a productive conversation between international senior and early career scholars about methodological aspects that influence the quality of research in organization studies, its connection with education and, eventually, its impact on surrounding environments.

This fourth AMOS conference, indeed, originates from the intention of fostering the debate within and beyond organization studies.

To achieve this goal, the conference emphasizes the importance of rethinking social science research in light of the posthuman turn that invites to question human primacy and adopt a more inclusive epistemological practice that, first of all, overcomes the dualism between subject and object to make room for a research practice of "becoming together" with multiple Others.The conference both relates to the FORTE area of competence “Work organization-Competencies, learning and professional roles” as well as specific sustainable development goals (05; 09; 011).
