Purpose and goal:
The project has demonstrated how municipalities, regions, the national level, and companies can employ quantified roadmaps to find their role in the climate and energy transition. As part of this, a climate education material focusing on carbon budgets has been produced.
In order to further develop and spread the methodology of "Coordinated climate transition", a non-profit climate foundation, Sustainable Action Foundation, has been formed that will support the public sector, businesses and politicians, in using the developed concept. Expected results and effects:
The project´s climate roadmap workshops and the co-creation of a national process for a coordinated climate transition have shown that quantified roadmaps enable a qualitative dialogue regarding cooperation, negotiation, and distribution of climate goals. Hence, we see a strong potential in scaling up the work done within the project and establishing the method as a broad and open standard that supports the climate transition in society. The result can make the climate transition more democratic and effective.
Approach and implementation:
Overall, the project setup worked as intended and the parties showed good adaptability when some activities proved more time-consuming than expected. The ambition level of the climate education entailed a workload significantly over budget, which was also the case with the development of the LEAP model´s Paris-compatible scenario and related data collection.
The dozen workshops conducted on site around the country also required extensive preparation and coordination, which altogether meant in-kind contributions by the project members to a greater extent than planned.
