Purpose and goal:
The goal of the project has been to increase the demand of locally produced food so that producers can stay in business and more can be attracted to start up. This to strengthen Skåne´s and Sweden´s food self-sufficiency, to better use residual recourses, and reduce carbon dioxide emissions from international transport. New methods of working (A God Neighbor method) were introduced in municipalities alongside knowledge of how to conduct market dialogues for new local business opportunities.
Expected results and effects:
Through the A Good Neighbor method, cooperation within and between municipalities has been strengthened. The municipalities have been inspired to take further action and share experiences. Dialogues with producers have also been developed to resolve issues that stand in the way of business.
Together with the project management, pilots have formed the basis of knowledge disseminated beyond the project. The long-term effect will be an increasing number of municipalities having local producers as suppliers of food. Approach and implementation:
Pilot municipalities (4 pcs) have received individual support and follower municipalities (16 pcs) have theoretically gained knowledge of how to work to get local food on the menu. The municipalities have also been given opportunities to engage in dialogue with local producers, both individually and at a fair. Several of the companies have continued the dialogue and are on their way to become suppliers.
The A God Neighbor method is described on a website (www.hutskane.se/goda-lokala-livsmedelssamarbeten/) together with guides and good examples.
