Norra Matgårdsstaden - our urban harvest festival in 2052

Purpose and goal:

The purpose of our future prototype was to engage in dialogue with the citizens and decision-makers through co-creation. We´ve succeeded in this through the various project activities.

The workshop series was a great forum to bring together experts and stakeholders relevant to realizing urban food production. The harvest festival was a tangible way to engage citizen dialogue.

We know that our future prototype engages and attracts conversation. Now we have translated the lessons learned into a digital platform where we reach a wider public as we make the material available in English. Expected results and effects:

Our solid project documentation of the artefacts, thoughts and provocations is now available on our digital platform with the approach that more people will take on the issues. We have not presented a solution to how urban food production should work but showcase one of many future scenarios of how our reality might look if urban food production was reality.

So far, our work and project have inspired several external lectures, tastings and articles, all of which give the project more exposure. Approach and implementation:

A timeline from 2022 to 2052 has acted as a dynamic visualization that reflects both project insights and provocations. If you visited the harvest festival, you got a time capsule containing the timeline, pins, a fictional article about the food cathedral and the recipes for the harvest festival snacks. In this way, the visitors could take a piece of the future home with them.

We are a committed team and in relation to the budget have over-delivered in the project. Still, we have also had the opportunity to advance on a topic that will be interesting to continue working on.
