Purpose and goal:
The project showcases speculative design methodology and future artifacts in pop-up interventions; it also activates and empowers participants in discussions around climate disruptions and the day-to-day strategies and actions they can take in response today. We train futures literacy and share the process, research and outcomes with the project’s digital platform. We engaged the general public, policymakers, entrepreneurs, activists and knowledge institutions across the globe.
Expected results and effects:
Iterating through various workshops with a highly engaged general public, we evolved into focused interactions with organizations and industry. Throughout the project, we further developed the project as a growing exhibition of signs and into a change management platform for organizations globally. The digital platform documented participants´ narratives and concerns, allowing these diverse voices to inform possible future policies and organizational strategies.
Approach and implementation:
Signs of Change proved as an easy-to-understand communication and engagement for complex future outcomes for various audiences. Its modular exhibition proved suitable for indoor and outdoor pop-ups. It allowed for the production and set-up on two continents. The workshop toolkit offered relevance and customizability to cater to various contexts with feedback loops into the digital platform. It generated social media traction and a wide range of actionable leads for scaling the project.
