Grant Description

Purpose and goal:

Although minimal lubrication is well explored in hole making processes, its industrial use in milling is still very small-scale. The project aims to facilitate the introduction of minimum lubrication in milling in industrial processes. The project proposal is to validate previous discoveries with the help of processing tests in a test bed and in an industrial environment at the project´s industrial partner´s production facilities.

Thus, the project´s objective is to create data for basic performance comparison of minimum lubrication during milling. Expected results and effects: ** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** The project results are the following deliveries: Database based on updated literature study

Performance comparison of MQL when milling ISO-K material, linked to surface finish, tool wear, cutting forces, temperature and chip departure Report on which factors and how implementation affects MQL on optimal combination of these factors. Guidelines and recommendations for industrial implementation of MQL in milling

Dissemination of knowledge through open seminar, guidelines, final report and degree project Approach and implementation: ** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** The project is planned to be completed in two years and seven work packages 1. Project management 2. Project definitions 3. Preparation for test bed

4. Experimental parameter study 5. Development of concepts for industrial 6. Reports and conclusions 7. Future prospects and follow-up

The results from performance comparisons are intended to facilitate the industrialization of MQL and to increase the technology readiness level. This is because MQL requires application-specific implementation studies which can be carried out in follow-up studies.
