Grant Description

As a response to societal challenges with more people living longer and increasing costs, both municipal and regional care are undergoing a major transformation through the national reform “God och nära vård” (GONV) i.e., “Good quality, local health care”.

The purpose with GONV is to establish a coordinated care, where the individual can participate, and resources are used efficiently.

Significant monetary compensation has been granted municipalities and regions, but reports highlight that the intentions of GONV are not within reach. The future project will through a case study design utilize the realist evaluation method to explore what works for whom, under which circumstances and why when implementing GONV for older people.

The aim of the planning project is to explore the prerequisites for the future project, in collaboration with stakeholders in municipalities, the region, and interest organizations. The planning project includesIdentification of cases to include in the realist evaluation through questionnaires to stakeholders with engagement in and responsibility for GONV.Identification of research questions and collaborative partners through interviews and workshops with stakeholders with willingness to be part of the case study.

These will cover discussions on potential research questions, identification of outcomes of GONV for the future project, and interest to be collaborative partners in cases.Identification of potential data sources and their relevance for use in the realist evaluation through the interviews and workshops with stakeholders.Identification of potential national collaborators outside Stockholm through discussions in national networks in the welfare society.Through a planning project, we will be able to form a strong application that is of relevance to users while still being of academic importance.

The project is conducted jointly by four Research and Development units for older people and the Academic Primary Healthcare Center in Stockholm.
