Purpose and goal: Project CIRCUBLADE aims to develop a circular economic solution through the reuse of end-of-life wind turbine blades in new products with a focus on efficient logistics, design and manufacturing as well as the development of a digital tool that will help achieve the circular solution and resource
efficiency. Expected results and effects:
New applications that the project will deliver are: pedestrian/bicycle bridge and noise insulation wall. The project will contribute to more sustainable use of resources and circular economy due to homogeneous material for future recycling. Through the project, we will contribute to an increased sustainable reuse of composite waste, cost-effective and sustainable composite structures without the need to use raw materials before sustainable solutions to recycle GFRP are in place. Effective logistic solutions and circular design guide for new applications will be developed.
Approach and implementation:
The project consists of 5 Work Packages: 1. Project management, communication, dissemination. 2. Sustainable business models and market introduction. 3. Concept design and dimensioning certification of end-of-life composites. 4. Manufacturing and mechanical testing of demonstrators (pedestrian and cycle bridge) and noise insulation wall and 5. Development of a digital platform that collects end-of-life blade data.
