Together towards resilient communities

LEPH2023 Umeå, 21–24 May, is an international conference focusing on the intersection between law enforcement and public health.

The conference´s target group is practitioners, decision-makers and researchers from the law enforcement sector, the public health sector and other related sectors. LEPH2023 is a continuation of the international LEPH conference series, focusing on regional issues. Between 300–500 delegates are expected at the conference.

Participants are reached through networking via the Global Law Enforcement & Public Health Association (GLEPHA) and cooperating agencies as well as the university.

LEPH2023 is a joint arrangement between the Police Education Unit and the Department of Epidemiology and Global Health at Umeå University, GLEPHA, Region Västerbotten, the County Administrative Board in Västerbotten and the Police Authority, in addition international organizations and partners, including law enforcement and public health organizations.LEPH2023´s purpose is to create a common understanding and ways of working together between the law enforcement sector and the public health sector as most social, security and public health issues require an intersectoral responsibility.LEPH2023 focuses on the link between crime and health.

Many people who have problems with drugs or mental illness end up in crime, and it is also not uncommon for crime to lead to drug use and mental illness.

LEPH2023 provides an opportunity to share good examples from the work being done but also an opportunity to take part in other´s good examples or common problems.

In addition, LEPH2023 gather people from Sweden and other parts of the world who work in law enforcement and public health.

The conference gives practitioners the opportunity to take part in and discuss important issues and, in the best case, present something that they themselves are working on.The theme of LEPH2023 is "Together towards resilient communities".
