The purpose of the conference is to create an arena for collaboration, development and fostering of perinatal and pediatric epidemiological research in Europe as well as world-wide, by bringing together world-class researchers in the field.
There has not been such conference or meeting in Europe and this initiative will be the first ever European conference in Perinatal and Pediatric Epidemiology.
We will invite key researchers from different disciplines who share a common interest: the epidemiology of pregnancy, infancy and childhood.
This includes epidemiologists, obstetricians, midwives, paediatricians, neonatologists, statisticians, genetic epidemiologists, register-based research specialists, developmental psychologists, environmental specialists among others.
Drawing together this diverse range of health care players, our purposed meeting will be a birthplace in Sweden and Europe for best practices and innovations leading to better postnatal outcomes, and to a better understanding of maternal physiology, parturition, newborn physiology and early life origins of disease.
We aim for a continuing annual meeting in Europe from 2024 and onwards.
The specific purposes are to:Initiate a European research network within perinatal and pediatric epidemiology.Feature stellar international speakers, and create a unique interface between obstetrical and neonatal, clinical and epidemiologic research.Increase collaboration within the Nordic countries, Europe and worldwide in the research field.Present research cohorts including health care, administrative and biological data for development of research and collaboration between research groups across Europe and the world.Provide an opportunity to many European researchers in perinatal and pediatric epidemiology to attend an international research meeting without travel overseas and or by air transport.Lay the foundation for an annual European conference in perinatal and pediatric epidemiology.
