Purpose and goal: The aim of the project is that Swedish producers of metallic materials will gain access to virtual
process lines /design tools for metal working and heat treatment processes so that new materials and processes can be developed more rapidly, more efficiently and safer. The project will focus on hot working,
which has been identified as the major challenge, and builds upon the FINBEAM project following the developed roadmap for modelling of metal working processes. Expected results and effects: The expected effect is that new materials and processes can be developed more rapidly, more efficiently and safer. The most important goal is that the models will be fully implemented
w ithin the companies during the course of the project. Approach and implementation: The project consortium comprises six materials producers, three universities, two software companies, a research institute and an industry association. The project is structured around six case studies, which all build upon fundamental modelling of the interaction between
deformation, temperature and microstructure, advanced characterisation of thermomechanical properties and materials models which are implemented in finite element code.
