Prehospital resource optimization via data-driven simulations

Purpose and goal:

The project´s goal has been to develop commercial tools that make it possible for prehospital care to optimize the use of resources to offer sustainable care of good quality regardless of age, gender, or place of residence. Today, NorthStat offers unique services and tools for working systematically with business development based on historical data, interactive visualization, and large-scale simulations.

Expected results and effects:

Evaluations based on independent data show that NorthStat´s simulation tools can be used to predict the consequences of various types of operational changes, such as changing the scheduling of resources, opening new stations, and changing alarms due to an aging population. The tool gives the regions tools to test operational changes before implementation, which makes it possible to use resources efficiently and fairly.

One preliminary study shows that cost-neutral changes can reduce the median response for time by 15%. Approach and implementation:

During the project, we worked on quality-assuring code, evaluating the tools via simulations, and validating the tools on historical data from which we have data before and after a business change has been implemented. Together with the regions, we have also discussed business models for the tools.

We have strengthened NorthStat´s brand and increased awareness of our products with the help of marketing, for example through fair participation, webinars, and work with our digital channels.
