Quick and accurate point of care diagnostics for infections, development and validation of user interface

Purpose and goal:

VIDEM is developing quick and accurate point of care diagnostics. The goal of the project was to gain a good understanding of user needs as a basis for requirements specification of user interface to ensure user friendliness, easy integration and implementation in the care flow. Project results were expected to form the basis for continued product development and contribute to good relations with end users, which has been fulfilled.

Expected results and effects:

The project has resulted in a deeper understanding of customer needs than expected and how these differ depending on the disease panels. The project resulted in an increased focus on customer needs analysis and user requirements for different disease panels, which has provided valuable insights, knowledge and relationships for future development projects and pilot collaborations to ensure user-friendliness.

Approach and implementation:

The project scope consisted of a customer needs analysis with end users and design of requirements specification, to then develop a user interface for testing and validation to ensure ease of use early in the development process. Needs analysis required more time than expected and provided insights that resulted in a reprioritization of budget where internal resources have been prioritized over consulting budget to focus on the most value-adding activities.
