Purpose and goal:
With an increasing share of renewable energy sources (wind power, solar power) in the electric power system, the connected rotating mass is decreasing. This increases the likelihood and risk of large variations of the power system frequency. The purpose and goal of the project have been to develop a solution for fleets of trains to target this challenge and to take this solution closer to the market.
The project has made it possible for us to develop the solution. We now co-operate with a potential customer to test drive a first implementation of the solution. Expected results and effects:
For Gridlynx an important result of the project has been to start co-operation with a train operator to test a first implementation of the solution. A market analysis of the market potential in Europe has been performed. The project has made it possible for us to develop an IT platform to deliver our service. The platform i still under development.
Approach and implementation:
The project has followed the planned work packages: WP1: Co-operation with train operator. WP2: Co-operation with TSO. WP3: Develop IT platform. WP4: Simulation, optimization. WP5: Business development. WP6: Sustainability and gender equality strategy.
