The City of Gothenburg has set ambitious climate goals to have a climate footprint close to zero by 2030.
But to succeed, greater attention must be paid to the close link between inclusion and climate change. One experience from several initiatives to create an equal and inclusive climate transition is that this is made more difficult by the fact that the issues are divided into different programs that govern the city´s administrations and companies.
The programs are of different natures and are controlled and followed up in different ways. The project will therefore address the complex challenge of "creating capacity for an inclusive climate transition within the framework of existing programs in a very short time".
The project will review relevant programs and plans and, among other things, clarify how they have the potential to contribute to the city´s overall goals for climate and equality.Based on these studies, the project will propose how the city´s governance and management can be strengthened to better integrate climate and inclusive transition. An ambition is also that the results will benefit other cities with similar challenges, including those that are part of the EU´s 100 climate-neutral cities by 2030.The project will also contribute to strengthened and broadened collaboration between the City of Gothenburg, academia and other internal and external actors.
