Grant Description

Borlänge will be climate neutral by 2030, and as a strategy for achieving this, the municipality will work together with the business community, citizens and academia. This project will help to create the conditions for the transformative societal changes that are required.

The focus is on transportation, which is a key area with high emissions and great potential for rapid action that will have an impact on the greenhouse gas emissions, while also contributing to a more equal and inclusive city.New mobility solutions are often developed in larger cities. The 15-minute city is a growing concept in European cities, but how could it be applied to Borlänge?

The project will create a model for how Borlänge, as a medium-sized city in Sweden and Europe, will tackle the complex challenge of transforming transports so that the city as a whole can achieve climate neutrality by 2030 while creating a more equal and inclusive city. The model will encompass different interdisciplinary solutions and the linkages between them.

The model for Borlänge´s transformation of transports can then be used as a basis for future investments. The model can also be used by other medium-sized cities in Sweden and Europe.
